“…I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of His kingdom forever.” II Samuel 7:12b, 13

God was speaking these words of promise to King David. This promise referred in the immediate future to the long reign of David’s son Solomon. But it more fully points to the kingdom of Jesus Christ, who came, humanly speaking, from the lineage of David.

May God open up our eyes to see Christ as King! Christ’s kingdom will endure forever. Some of the world’s greatest men of power have ruled for 50 years, 60 years, or even longer. But Christ’s kingdom is eternal. He will never be dethroned or put down. He rules over the whole world (Ps. 103:19). Even though the world fights against the kingdom of Christ, the King and His kingdom will continue on.

Are you a subject of Christ’s kingdom? If so, then you have been brought into the kingdom by God’s conquering grace. You must be a loyal subject to the King, obeying Him, honoring Him, and never turning your back on Him. We must look to the King for power and strength. We must ask Him to give prosperity and strength to His kingdom. We must be willing laborers in His kingdom, seeing it as an honor to be involved in such royal activity.

If you are weary today with the sin of yourself and of this world, set your eyes upon King Jesus. If you feel weak and insufficient, look to the strong King Jesus. If you sometimes worry about the future, be assured that the reign of King Jesus is eternal. Look to the King!
